Body on the Border is a composition based on “identity crisis” set to the poetry of Eric Eztli of the same title. Much like everyone else I have always had a desire to pinpoint what makes me who I am and somehow the idea of Mexican-American always seems to seep its way in. Not enough of one and too much of both. On numerous occasions I have questioned my validity as Mexican and my authenticity as American. I have come to embrace the burden as it allows me to grow as a person but I have also learned that I cannot allow falsified parameters dictate who I am. I (we) am an amalgamation of all my experiences that is forever evolving. This composition is a representation of that constant evolution.
